Optomap

Optomap® retinal imaging gives Precision Eye Group doctors a detailed view through this unique window.

An Optomap is a type of instrument that takes a very detailed, wide-angle picture of the back of your eye, known as the retina. The retina is important because it helps you see by detecting light and sending visual information to your brain. With an Optomap, the doctor can see almost the entire retina in one image without needing to dilate your eyes, which means less discomfort and no recovery.comparing your Optomap images over the years allows your doctor to keep track of your retinal health year after year, monitoring for even the smallest changes to best protect your ocular health.

Having this imaging done once a year is important because it can help detect serious eye conditions, like glaucoma, macular degeneration, or even retinal tears or detachment. These conditions often don’t show symptoms early on, but with an Optomap, doctors can catch them before they become a bigger problem. It can also help spot signs of other health issues like diabetes or high blood pressure. Early detection can prevent vision loss and make treatment much easier.
